Airbus Denies New A380 Delays

French Paper Reports Two Fewer Deliveries In '08

The Airbus A380 superjumbo has already faced two development delays totalling almost two years. Airbus recently made a slight downward revisions in production numbers in May, but insists there will be no more delays, despite new rumors.

Reuters reported finding a story in the Sunday edition of the French weekly Le Journal du Dimanche claiming an unnamed source at Airbus, which in May revised 2008 delivery numbers from 13 to 12, was now saying the number is now between eight and 10.

An Airbus spokesman told Reuters Monday there have been no changes to the A380 delivery schedule since May, when the division of EADS announced it would deliver 12 of the planes this year, and 21 next year, down from earlier estimates of 25.

As ANN has reported, Airbus is scheduled to deliver an A380 to Qantas this Friday, the first of 20 ordered by that airline. Airbus reports a total of 192 firm orders for the A380 so far.
