DART Earns FAA, Transport Canada Approval Of Shoulder Harness Kits

Fits Bell 205/212/214/412/UH-1 Helos

DART Helicopter Services told ANN Monday the company's affiliated partner, DART Aerospace Ltd., has received FAA and Transport Canada approval of its newly designed 3-point Shoulder Harness Kits for the Bell 205/212/214/412/UH-1.

These 3-point kits feature a Diagonal Shoulder Harness on an Inertia Reel, complete with an independent or integrated Lap Belt. EASA approval is pending, according to the company.

Engineered to meet the contract requirements of both the United States Department of Interior and the United States Forest Service, DART shoulder harness kits are now available in two new configurations.

"This product is the direct result of the feedback we received from our US Forest Service operators," said DART CEO Jeff Shapiro.

The Integrated Kit (shoulder harness joined to lap belt) has been specifically designed for rappel aircraft, and has a single point metal to metal quick release mechanism. The Independent Kit (shoulder harness separates from lap belt) incorporates a distinctive large push button release mechanism which provides an alternative to the lever style release.

DART notes minimal install time is needed for the kits, as no cutting or sewing of the thermal blankets is required, and the installation design utilizes transfer drilling and existing holes in aircraft. The system meets requirements of US DOT Advisory Circular AC 21-34 and of Chapter 9 of AC 43.13-2A.
