The FAA’s Flight Standards Service has created, a new and more efficient operations authorization procedure for U.S.-registered aircraft to comply with early ADS-B directives mandated by other countries.
The new approval process is expected to be available to operators at the end of June this year. Perhaps realizing that the UAV train has already left the station ... during a speech at AUVSI's Unmanned Systems 2014, FAA Manager of UAS Integration Jim Williams on Tuesday announced that the FAA is working with several industries to expedite some limited commercial operations of UAS before UAS rules are finalized. Sikorsky Aircraft announced Tuesday from the AUVSI Unmanned Systems conference that it will develop its first product to feature Matrix Technology, by converting a retired UH-60A Black Hawk helicopter into an optionally piloted variant capable of a wide spectrum of missions.
