NBAA Announces Re-Election Of Moore, Newton To Board Of Directors

Board Is Responsible For Managing The Direction, Affairs Of The Association

The Voting Membership of the NBAA re-elected two directors, Lloyd “Fig” Newton and Scott A. Moore, during its 65th Annual Meeting held Wednesday at the Orange County Convention Center. “Both of these individuals have proved to be outstanding Board Members, and we are happy to have them continue in this capacity,” said Richard Shine, chairman of the NBAA Board of Directors and CEO and chief pilot of Manitoba Corporation.

Fig Newton is a member of the board of the Sonoco Products Company and also serves on the boards of Torchmark Corporation and the National Air and Space Museum. He retired in 2000 from the United States Air Force as a four-star general. Serving for more than three decades, Newton flew 269 combat missions in Vietnam, flew with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration team and served as a congressional liaison to the U.S. House of Representatives for the Air Force. He serves as a member of the NBAA Compensation, Investment & Succession Committee.

“The National Business Aviation Association is an extraordinary organization that plays a very important role in the business aviation community,” Newton said. “I am honored to serve on the NBAA Board and give back to an industry I love.”

Moore is the aviation department manager for Luck Companies, a family-owned provider of stone products in Manassas, VA. He is a Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) with more than 7,900 hours in 12 different types of aircraft and 27 years of flight department management and military leadership. A former Air Force command pilot and instructor, Moore is also a combat veteran with service in Panama, the Gulf War, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq. He is a member of the NBAA Nominating Committee. “I am happy to continue addressing the challenges facing NBAA and the industry,” Moore said. “I am also proud to represent the interests of small and medium-sized companies, like my employer, that have a small flight department and just one or two aircraft.”

The NBAA Board of Directors is responsible for managing the affairs of the Association. It is a body of experienced, talented and committed aviation professionals who work to guide and assist the staff in serving NBAA Members and the business aviation community.

Moore first joined the Board in 2009, and this will be his second three-year term. Newton first joined the Board in 2010, and though his current term expires in 2014, he stood for re-election this year based upon an employment change.
