Aspen Avionics’ Evolution Displays Compatible With Garmin

The Aspen Evolution Display Now Communicates With The Garmin’s GDL 88 Transceiver And GTX 345 Transponder

Aspen Avionics announced at Sun ‘n Fun that it has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) to interface its Evolution Primary and Multi-function displays with Garmin’s GDL 88 dual-band ADS-B datalink transceiver.

Aspen says that the interface to Aspen displays from the Garmin GTX 345 ADS-B datalink transponder is planned to be available by the end of 2016. Aspen claims the advantage of this new feature is that it provides pilots more options for ADS-B compliance while bringing subscription-free weather and advanced traffic to the cockpit.

“With ADS-B compliance rapidly approaching, aircraft owners are looking for options that provide value-added weather and advanced traffic information at a price that is affordable and, that will work with multiple display options,” said Mark Ferrari, vice president of sales and customer support at Aspen Avionics. “This interface clearly addresses those needs.”

Aspen announced that the cost for the software to unlock these functions for either the GDL 88 or the GTX 345 is $795, and it can be installed at any Aspen Avionics authorized dealer.
