ICAS Names Bruce Wilson As New President And CEO

Aero-News has learned that the Board of Directors of the International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) has named Bruce A. Wilson of Silver Spring, MD  as President and CEO of ICAS. Sources at ICAS tell ANN that Mr. Wilson, who began his term as president of the airshow organization Friday, is an experienced association executive with the ability to lead members, staff and outside groups to achieve the goals of the association. 

"I look forward to meeting with ICAS members, understanding their successes and their challenges, working with the Board of Directors to develop strategic goals for ICAS and then leading the organization to achieve its full potential," said Wilson.

Prior to joining ICAS, Mr. Wilson completed a long and distinguished term as Director of Government Relations for the Physician Insurers Association of America. For five years prior to that, Wilson helped lead the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and its 10,000+ members as Deputy Director of the AAD’s Washington, D.C. office.

Mr. Wilson also served in both the Reagan and Bush (George H.W., that is) administrations, after he founded and ran a successful medical equipment leasing company for seven years. 

"Bruce knows how to lead an association, he understands the passion we have for our industry and he is the right man to convey that passion as the voice of the air show industry," states Colonel Larry Gallogly, Chairman of the ICAS Board of Directors.

Mr. Wilson earned bachelors’ degrees in Political Science and Communications from the University of Michigan and a Master’s of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University.

Also trained as a recreational pilot (although not current), Mr. Wilson’s interest in aviation complement his leadership, member service and development, and communications skills.
