Remains Found, Believed To Be From Downed Comanche Off Massachusetts Coast

Aircraft Went Down On Flight To Hyannis From Martha's Vineyard

The bodies of two people believed to have been aboard a single-engine Piper which authorities believe went down in the Atlantic ocean off the coast of Massachusetts have been found on a beach, but the wreckage of the airplane has not been located.

The NTSB said the plane went down Sunday on a flight from Martha's Vineyard to Hyannis, MA. The Associated Press reports that earlier reports that the wreckage had been located were premature, and the Coast Guard says that the airplane is still missing.

The pilot reported smoke in the cockpit of the 1961 Piper during the 20 minute flight from the island to the mainland. Contact with the airplane was lost shortly thereafter.

The bodies were located on a beach in Brewster on Cape Cod. Names are still being withheld pending notification of relatives.
