Open House Included Blue Angels Flyover, GEICO Skytypers
Performance
Officials with the OC Air Show announced Monday a successful
Open House at the Ocean City Municipal Airport. Battling the heat,
more than 2,500 aviation enthusiasts came out to walk the flight
line for a closer look at the performing aircraft as they arrived.
Spectators were also able to visit with pilots and crews.
The day started with a pre-show pilot briefing by Air Boss Ralph
Royce, followed by a special beachfront flyover by the US Navy Blue
Angels. Throughout the afternoon, visitors to the airport and along
the beach were entertained during practice performances by the
Firebird aerobatic team, the Edge 540 Wavemiller, the F-15, the
F-16, the USAF Heritage Flight Program, the Yak Attack and the MX-2
aerobatic solo. The six-ship GEICO Skytypers wrapped up the day in
formation with the US Air Force Reserve Biplane.
"We were pleased with today’s showing of support at the
airport," said Bryan Lilley, president of the OC Air Show. "Based
on our successful rehearsal, I feel confident that visitors are in
for two exciting days of performances by some of the nation’s
best air show acts as they soar over the beaches of Ocean
City."
Air Show times are noon to 4 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, June
10 and 11. Events will be visible along the majority of the
three-mile boardwalk. Interactive displays and exhibits will be
open to the public on the streets surrounding Show Center, located
at 16th Street on the boardwalk.
General admission is free as the show can be viewed from the
beach and boardwalk. Premium viewing opportunities and club house
V.I.P. chalets will also be available to businesses and public
attendees. Tickets for premium seating can be purchased onsite in
the Ocean View restaurant located on 16th Street and the
Boardwalk.
The Town of Ocean City is co-sponsoring the inaugural OC Air
Show with B. Lilley Inc.
