U.K. Rape Victim Located By Drone Using Thermal Imaging Camera

Teenager Called Police After The Attack

Lincolnshire, U.K. police launched a drone equipped with a thermal imaging camera in the early morning hours Saturday after a 16-year-old woman called them to say she had just been raped and was still with her attacker but did not know where she was.

The U.K. newspaper The Independent reports that the aircraft was able to locate the young woman "within minutes."

A police spokesman said that the girl called 999 from the Brown's Road area of Boston, Lincolnshire. She said she was still with her attacker, and was in an abandoned industrial complex surrounded by an 8-foot high fence.

“Our drone unit helped to locate her and she was found with a man in his thirties," the spokesman said. “The man was arrested. Officers from our Emerald Team, who are specifically trained to support victims of rape and sexual assaults, are supporting the victim.”
