The Country Of Canada Is About To Celebrate Its 150th Birthday, And Airshows May Be Part Of The Celebration Bash
According to reports, a proposal has been put forward to help the more remote locations in the northern part of Canada to celebrate the Canadian birthday with a series of well-planned airshows.
According to a CBC News report, the airshow events would be called the, ‘Canadian Arctic Aviation Tour 2017,’ and would involve airshows being performed at 97 northern communities. It’s reported that organizer, Nancy McClure, said while speaking to the Whitehorse City Council meeting about the project, "What we hope to do is be able to provide the same opportunity to people that live in northern communities as would be provided to anybody living in the south part of Canada."
McClure said the airshows will vary depending on the location of the event. It’s proposed that the airshows will be presented in four different formats, and an air show at a specific location will be tailored to the capabilities of the facility. In the report, McClure is quoted as saying, "Some of them will have the Canadian Forces Snowbirds or the CF-18 Demo Team." McClure added that all locations will have a core crew that includes the Canadian Forces SkyHawks.
It’s reported that some funds for the airshows are being provided through sponsors, and the promoters of this event are still waiting for confirmation that the government will also participate by providing funds.
