FAA Still Looking For Drone Test Administrators

Apply by March 31 to become an FAA approved Test Administrator

The FAA invites drone companies and educational institutions to become test administrators for The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST). The test offers recreational flyers safety training, best practices, and educational resources.

Potential applicants must:

  • Read all application documents before they apply to determine eligibility.
  • Provide documentation of a Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) Learning Management System that is compliant with version 1.2 or later.
    • Acceptable supporting documentation could include verification from the manufacturer of the learning management system, extract copy of the user's manual, certificate of purchase, or other such authoritative document showing the system meets SCROM 1.2 criteria.
  • Be able to deploy the product by June 1 and make it available at no cost to the test taker.

Apply now to become an FAA Approved Test Administrator of the Recreational UAS Safety Test.

Key Dates:

  • Application Period: February 22 - March 31, 2021
  • FAA Submission Review: April 1 - April 30, 2021
  • Validation and Formal Onboarding: May 3 - June 1, 2021
  • Approved Test Administrator: June 2021

The FAA notes that, 'Safety is a responsibility shared by government, industry and the drone community. Together with our stakeholders, we can empower recreational flyers to understand how and where they can fly safely.'
