Upgraded: Bryan Hurley

Named American Legend Aircraft Company's Director Of Manufacturing

American Legend Aircraft Company Friday announced the appointment of Bryan Hurley as its Vice President of Manufacturing. Legend was formed in 2004 expressly to design and manufacture the Legend Cub light-sport aircraft. The Legend Cub is similar in appearance to the celebrated, and out-of-production, Piper Cub. Hurley is a highly experienced manufacturing engineer and will be charged with leading production of the Legend Cub.

Bryan Hurley is a 15-year manufacturing veteran. He holds a B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering from Texas A&M University—consistently ranked one of the top engineering schools in the country. Prior to joining Legend, Hurley worked as a Manufacturing/Engineering Manager in a variety of industries. There he implemented the continuous improvement techniques and quality standards systems that will be fully utilized by Legend. His project management skills and experience with proven methods such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and ISO 9000, will be instituted in the production of the Legend Cub.

"I have learned from the best manufacturing consultants in the world. The Toyota Production System has been the manufacturing benchmark for decades. Its foundation is the elimination of waste through continuous improvement activities. It is used to gain a competitive advantage." Hurley added, "I worked closely with some tough birds (Japanese consultants). One of their favorite phrases was 'creativity before capital.' We continuously looked for ways to improve the process, to make the manufacturing function more efficient. This required getting everyone involved. The results were huge costs savings. Legend represents an exciting challenge for me at this time in my career."
