NASA has approved a $30 million milestone payment to SpaceX under the agency's Commercial Crew Integrated Capability agreement with the company following a recent and successful pad abort test of its Crew Dragon spacecraft.
An aircrew of the Civil Air Patrol’s New Mexico wing spotted the wreckage of a single-seat glider reported missing last Thursday after departing Moriarty Municipal Airport. The pilot of the glider did not survive the accident. CAP cell phone forensics and radar analysis teams allowed searchers to better focus their efforts. The time of departure and last known position was calculated and plotted using tools the CAP developed, then relayed to the local search and rescue teams. Beachcombers can sometimes find some pretty interesting stuff while strolling along the sandy surf. In this example of an unusual find, a piece of a Falcon 9 rocket that was destroyed in April during an attempt to land on a floating barge was discovered by Kevin Eichlberger and his friends while on vacation in the Bahamas in late May.
