HEICO's Flight Support Group Prez Wins Aviation Award

HEICO Corporation's Eric A. Mendelson, the President of the Company's Flight Support Group, was awarded Aviation Week's prestigious Outstanding Achievement in Aviation Maintenance award by its Overhaul and Maintenance Magazine at a dinner in Ft. Lauderdale (FL) last week.

The award is presented annually by the publication. Mr. Mendelson has played a pivotal role in the commercial airline industry's ability to reduce its maintenance costs as a result of his pioneering "innovation in growing the acceptability and availability of aftermarket replacement parts."

Lufthansa's Progress Honored, Too

At the same ceremony, Dr. Jurgen Weber, Chairman of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, was awarded the L. Welch Pogue Award to recognize Dr. Weber's accomplishments in leading Lufthansa from an unprofitable state-owned airline into one of the world's most successful and diversified airline companies. Wolfgang Mayrhuber, Lufthansa's incoming Executive Board Chairman and a member of HEICO's Board of Directors, accepted the award for Dr. Weber, as Dr. Weber was unable to attend the dinner in person.

(The Lufthansa Technik AG subsidiary of Deutsche Lufthansa owns 20% of HEICO's Flight Support Group and is an important HEICO partner. HEICO is also a partner with American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Airlines and Air Canada.)
