American Heroes Air Show Kicks Off 2015 At Camp Mabry, TX

American Heroes Air Show To Displays The Unique Capabilities Of Rotary-Wing Technology

Since its meager beginnings at the Santa Monica Airport in 1993, the American Heroes Air Show has grown into a premier, admission-free, helicopter-only aviation experience that is now produced by volunteers with a passion for public service and aviation at sites from coast to coast.

James Paules is the Volunteer Executive Producer of the American Heroes Air Show program. “We’re very excited to see some of the restrictions imposed on military support easing for 2015 and we look forward to opening our season back with our friends in Austin, Texas April 18 & 19,” Paules noted. Since 2006 the American Heroes Air Show has partnered with the annual Texas Military Forces Open House based at historic Camp Mabry.

The event theme holds closely to the mission of the American Heroes Air Shows to educate the public, media and elected official as to the unique capabilities of rotary- wing technology. This admission-free event achieves that goal with static displays of helicopters on the Camp Mabry parade field from military, regional law enforcement units, Federal/DOJ units, private collectors while local flight schools are on hand to deliver information to future helo pilots.

Additionally, the Texas Military Forces provide exciting helicopter training exercises which highlight medical extraction and tactical rescue capabilities, and provide an exciting demonstration to the public why helicopters are often the first tool out of the tool box in time-critical public safety events.

In conjunction with the event, a Naturalization Ceremony, co-hosted by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, is presented in front of an 85% scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall provided by the American Veterans Traveling Tribute organization.

It’s an exciting weekend where families can step into the past and experience military reenactments of significant U.S. military engagements throughout history, along with musical entertainment, concessions, exciting helicopter rescue demonstrations and public service themed activities for the entire Austin community.

For the ninth year the American Heroes Air Show is proud to be part of the admission-free Texas Military Forces Open House at historic Camp Mabry in the heart of Austin, TX.
