It could be said that competition begets innovation, and that seems to be the case with Boeing. It’s reported that Boeing is considering a 150 seat version of its new 737 MAX airplane in light of competition from Bombardier's CSeries airliners.

The airplane, which for now the company is calling the 737 MAX 7X, would have a significantly longer range and carry more passengers than the 126-seat model currently in development. It’s reported that Boeing offered steep discounts to United Airlines on the 737 MAX to win their business. It had always been known that crossing the Pacific Ocean would be one of the most difficult parts of the around the world journey by the solar powered, Solar Impulse 2 airplane. With a careful balance of solar power combined with storage batteries, this unique experimental airplane set out to prove that through sun provided electric energy, the globe could be circumnavigated. The three-day flight from Hawaii to the U.S. mainland concluded with its landing on Saturday at 11:45 PM Western time at Moffett Field in Mountain View, California.
