Certified: Simflightronics' SFT-3000

Authorized as "Advance Aviation Training Device"

The FAA completed the evaluation process and has subsequently authorized the SFT-3000, to be used as an “Advance Aviation Training Device,” for use under Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) Parts 61 and 141. The evaluating FAA Inspector said that in his opinion, “the device was more functional and appeared to be more realistic and capable of conducting the functions and maneuvers…than most of the Level 1 and 3 FTD’s (Flight Training Devices) currently approved by the FAA.”

The SFT-3000 uses an exclusively licensed version of Elite’s Advanced software with the ultra-high resolution display of life-sized instruments and an external visual system. The unique integration of technologies gives the device a distinctive edge over previously available simulation devices. This is a revolutionary new design and concept in PC based Flight Simulation Training. It is the ideal training platform for all flight training schools and educational institutions, seeking to provide professional quality aviation training while maintaining program flexibility and cost effectiveness.

Mo Khwaja, President and CEO of Deland based Simflightronics Corporation, a former airline captain, who is also a graduate of Embry-Riddle, says that there is a paradigm shift in simulation technologies that allows Simflightronics to offer exceptional performance at very reasonable prices. “We are the Jet Blue and Southwest Airlines of the simulation industry,” he said in a recent panel presentation at the National Training Aircraft Symposium, held at Embry Riddle. The SFT-3000, which was on display at the symposium, was very well received by industry. Flown by representatives of the FAA, AOPA, airline captains, military pilots, senior officials of Embry-Riddle, as well as by flight training managers of leading universities, the SFT-3000 instantly gained top popularity.

Cloud Dancer Aviation, Inc., of Daytona Beach, is the proud owner and operator of the first production model of the Simflightronics SFT-3000. Dave Alber Sr., owner of Cloud Dancer Aviation, Inc. says that he made the right choice in being the launch customer for the Simflightronics model SFT-3000. “We are really happy with the performance of the device, and also highly impressed with the excellent service provided to us by Simflightronics and their staff. Their support has been just remarkable.” The device has now been incorporated into their part 141 flight training curriculum, and is also being used for several other phases of training, including Private Pilot.

As per the FAA approval, the device is authorized for use in satisfying Tasks/Maneuvers, and Procedures under the following sections of 14 CFR parts 61 and 141:

1) Section 61.51(b)(3)
- Logged Flight Experience
2) Section 61.57(c)(1)
- Instrument Experience
3) Section 61.57(d)(1)(ii)
- Instrument Proficiency Check, per FAA-S-8081-4
4) Section 61.65(e)(2)
- Instrument Rating: Maximum 20 hours
5) Section 61.65(a)(8)
- Instrument Rating: Practical Test, as allowed under FAA-S-8081-4
6) Section 61.109(i)(1)
- Private Pilot Certificate: Maximum 2.5 hours
7) Section 61.129(i)(1)
- Commercial Certificate: Maximum 50 hours
8) Section 61.159(a)(3)(i)
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate: Maximum 25 hours
9) Section 141.41(b)
- Approved For Use as Limited by Part 141 Appendices B and C.
