Airtime Aviation Named Flight Design American Distributor

German Designed, Czech Built, Oklahoma Sold

Flight Design General Aviation GmbH, the German developer of popular Light Sport Aircraft such as the Super, F2, and F2e (electric), has announced the signing of a contract designating Airtime Aviation of Tulsa, Oklahoma a new North American distributor of Flight Design aircraft.

The deal positions Airtime—a major seller of Light Sport aircraft in the United States and, by extension, the world—to capitalize on the growing popularity of Flight Design products. In all, the German airframer has in excess of 45 new aircraft orders on its books, and expects deliveries to commence at the rate of three-per-month by the fourth quarter of 2022.

Of particular significance is the fact that ongoing Russian belligerence has compelled Flight Design to shift production of its aircraft from the company’s primary plant in in Kherson, Ukraine to an EASA approved parallel facility in the Czech Republic. Flight Design reports the expansion to full production at the Czech site—where it has produced F2 wings since 2018—has proceeded smoothly.

Flight Design CEO Daniel Guenther states: “We were very pleased at the amount of interest and new contracts taken at this year’s [AirVenture 2022] show. We are again taking orders for new aircraft and the response at the show was very positive.” Herr Guenther further states that flight schools have expressed strong interest in his company’s Type Certified F2, which is approved under EASA’s Certification Specification Part 23 (CS-23) and is currently pending FAA certification.

Airtime Aviation’s Tom Gutman, Jr. asserts: “We have been working with Flight Design since the beginning. Our company has sold more Flight Design aircraft than anyone else in the world and it was a natural for us to move up to the next level.” Mr. Gutman added: “We will continue to provide a comprehensive level of service to all Flight Design aircraft in the Americas. The same staff as in recent years will continue to handle spares from Europe so part inventories are well secured.”
