No More Crop Dusters On Payroll Now That the Agras is On the Mission
DJI announced the new Agras T25 and T50 for sale, providing support for smaller and larger growers with application, fertilization, and similar sprays.
DJI says that its agricultural drones have already treated more than 980 million acres in more than 100 countries and regions, not too small a record for a lineup that only showed up on scene in 2023. The T25 is the smaller, more affordable model, while the T50 gets to be the flagship of the Agras lineup. It sports large 54-inch propellers and a coaxial dual-rotor design, allowing it to haul payloads from 88 lbs of juice, or 110 pounds of dry granules. With the former, the T50 can spray at up to 16 liters per minute by way of its two sprinklers, and even adjust the size of droplets it puts down. When changed over into spreading configuration - a process DJI says is quick and easy - it can spread dry granules at up to 1.5 tonnes per hour.
In the more technical aspects of the machines, DJI mentions longer transmission range, dual radar and binocular vision, and an optional kit to double the sprinkler output with another pair of nozzles. Terrain and obstacle avoidance is better than ever, as it should, befitting a night $20,000 drone. Thanks to its new 30-amp-hour battery, the T50 sports a nice 9-minute fast charge to get it back in the action, allowing continuous operation with only a pair of batteries to swap in and out.
"As a global leader in agriculture technology, we aim to push precision agriculture forward with the latest DJI Agras drones for spraying and spreading. To date, over 980 million acres worldwide across over 100 countries and regions have been treated by DJI Agriculture drones," said Yuan Zhang, Head of Global Sales at DJI Agriculture. "With our proven solutions for crop protection, family farmers and large-scale growers can improve yields, reduce chemical usage, and cut costs, while minimizing environmental impact."
