Extra Aircraft Unveils New High-Performance Aerobat

Building on the success of its Extra 300 series, Extra Aircraft is unveiling the latest addition to the lineup, its new EA-300LP.

“Our engineers specifically designed this latest model with the competitive and performance pilot in mind,” said Ken Weaver, president of Extra Aircraft. “We have created a package that gives pilots a distinct advantage by redesigning a number of aerodynamic features and weight-saving production processes.”

The most noticeable redesigned feature on the new EA-300LP is the aircraft’s cowling for improved engine air flow. Extra engineers have also structurally enhanced the aircraft by using a lightweight carbon-fiber honeycomb composite in the cowling compared to a glass composite used in the current Extra 300 lineup. Combined with new lightweight carbon honeycomb fuselage shells, carbon fairings, carbon wheel and brake fairings, and a titanium firewall, the EA-300LP provides pilots with superior and safe performance in the high G-force environment of unlimited-category flight.

Other key features of Extra’s 300LP include a lightweight oil-cooling system, a sport carbon-fiber instrument panel, lightweight avionics package, and Teflon hose kit with integrated fire sleeves. This unique combination gives pilots a weight savings of up to 30 pounds, which allows for maximum performance and a competitive edge. Standard features in the EA-300LP also include two wingtip sighting devices (45º/90º) and a smoke system with an automatic filling system.

This latest high-performance model has all the design and built-in safety features of its predecessors, and has the unmatched JAA- and FAA-certification load factor to plus/minus 10 G’s.

“We are extremely excited about this latest model,” said Weaver. “We pride ourselves on building the best planes in this category. The EA-300LP is our latest success.”

Extra Aircraft is a premier aircraft manufacturing company headquartered in Lancaster, Pa., with a manufacturing plant in Germany. Founded in the 1980s by veteran aerobatic pilot Walter Extra, Extra Aircraft became a U.S.-owned and -operated company in 2003. The Extra product line includes three highly specialized models: the EA-300L, an aerobatic aircraft, and the EA-400 and the EA-500, business and touring aircraft.
