Speaker Will Be Earl Lawrence, Director Of The FAA's UAS Integration Office
AUVSI is planning a webinar on Monday aimed at commercial drone pilots who wish to obtain Part 107 waivers and airspace authorizations.
The FAA began issuing Part 107 waivers and airspace authorizations to drone operators starting August 29, 2016, the effective date of the new rule. As of October 24, 2016, the agency had approved 81 authorizations for flights in Class D and E airspace, and has issued 36 waivers of Part 107 provisions to drone operators who applied after the rule’s effective date.
However, the agency has found that many applications have incorrect or incomplete information. Many applicants request too many waivers or request waivers for flights in types of airspace for which the FAA is not yet granting approvals. As a result, the agency has had to reject numerous waiver requests and airspace applications.
In an effort to help educate current and future applicants, AUVSI and Earl Lawrence are teaming up for a webinar to clarify the process and information requirements for Part 107 waivers and airspace authorizations. This informative session is intended to help reduce the number rejections that are being issued and ensure the right information is included for either process in order to help expedite approvals.
The speaker will be Earl Lawrence, Director UAS Integration Office, FAA.
AUVSI says the webinar is free to all attendees. Registration will close at 10:00 EST on the day of the program. It is targeted towards Commercial drone pilots, companies interested in integrating the commercial potential of drones and anyone interested in the commercial potential of drones.
Registration with AUVSI is required to sign up for the Webinar.
