Sheltair-Avfuel Accepting Scholarship Applications

Six $5,000 Scholarships to be Awarded

Sheltair Aviation, family-owned operator of 15 award-winning FBOs and a portfolio of over 4.5 million-square-feet of aviation-related properties across the U.S. has partnered with Avfuel Corporation, a leading global supplier of aviation fuel and services, to offer and announce the availability of the 2023 Future Takes Flight Scholarships.

Subject scholarship, now in its second year, will provide $30,000 in educational funds by way of six, discrete $5,000 scholarships to be awarded to aerospace professionals across three categories.

Two of the $5,000 scholarships will be presented to individuals learning to fly or seeking advanced pilot ratings. Two additional scholarships in the same amount will be granted to persons pursuing careers as aviation technicians. The final two $5,000 scholarships will be allotted to continuing education.

By splitting the $30,000 endowment across the three aforementioned areas, Sheltair and Avfuel are better able to support the future of business aviation.

Sheltair president Lisa Holland stated: “With the Future Takes Flight Scholarship Program, we’re giving back to the industry that has given us everything. By providing meaningful financial support to aviators pursuing a greater commitment to business aviation, we’re reinvesting in the aviation community we love.”

Avfuel senior vice president of sales Joel Hirst added: “The Avfuel and Sheltair teams were blown away by both the breadth and quality of applications we received for the 2022 scholarship. We look forward to reading through 2023’s applicants and are honored to once again give back to the industry that has given us everything, supporting business aviation’s bright future.”

Applications are due on 01 June 2023. A team of Avfuel and Sheltair executives will evaluate the scholarship applications and predicate the selection of the year’s six recipients upon essay submissions. Special consideration will be given, however, to applicant’s facing financial hardship. Scholarship recipients will be notified in September and announced at October’s (17th through 19th) NBAA-BACE.
