Contracted MRO, Maintainer, and Installer Adds 117,000 Square Feet to Texas Facilities
King Aerospace Commercial Corporation signed a lease agreement for 2 additional hangars at the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport near Rogers, Texas.
The secure-environment space will be used for their specialized FAA Part 145 modifications, development, and integration work on mission-critical widebody aircraft. The King portfolio includes a range of services for civilian VIP interiors and ordinary MRO offerings, but their real claim to fame is their expansive roster of military equipment. From upgraded airborne defense systems to next-generation ISR for every acronym that ends in -INT, King says they can see it through from design to installation. In classic secret-squirrel contractor parlance, the facility will receive a spiffy "high-speed low-drag" nickname: KACC ARK, which will be home to their maintenance, installation, and VIP interior refurbishment that accompanies their special modifications.
The hangars boast a combined 116,736 square feet, with nearly 80,000 square feet for engineering, shop, and office space. They have direct access to an 8,800-foot runway, with 24/7 gated security and firefighting support, should it be needed. With the kind of government modifications and equipment worked on and installed at the ARK, some precautions are simply a necessary part of doing business.
“These hangars make us feel like the proud parents of twins,” says Jerry King, King Aerospace founder. “We see the possibilities and will be good stewards so we fully realize their potential. We’re working to keep them well fed. We do this out of love and are proud of them already.
“These hangars were on my radar screen even before they were built back in 1998 and I was at Associated Air Center. I guess part of me always felt fated to be part of their journey. They’re an important part of our family now. The interest we’ve seen in the market gives us confidence that we’re the right team in the right place with the right services."
