ANN: More Help Wanted

It's True! We NEED Help!

ANN is looking to fill TWO upcoming positions... one fairly quickly and one for early in 2004. ANN is preparing to offer a number of new services and increased coverage... and doing it with the same old crew just isn't going to cut it... we're going to need (more) help!   ANN is (first) looking for a solid aero-writer/editor to handle a demanding four day work week and occasional special event coverage.

Yup... Having beaten our current staff black and blue (a good color on a few of them...), it's time for new blood--we're looking for a person to handle a permanent four day a week gig (Monday-Thur or Tues-Fri), in coordination with our weekend news-gnomes.

The qualified respondent needs the following… SOLID aviation/aerospace writing and journalism credentials/abilities, SOLID photographic/graphic web smarts, Good basic web skills (light HTML know-how and some grasp of photo-editing) and E-Mail skills, a strong work/journalism ethic, and an ability to meet and adhere to tight deadlines;as well as RELIABLE full-time access to a fairly speedy Internet connection (DSL, ADSL, T1, Pipeline to the Almighty, etc...), a computer with the ability to keep up with a number of graphic chores and editorial efforts, and the ability to work with a very strange crew of ANN weirdoes. Since this job is computer based, it does not matter where you live and we are, of course, unconcerned about your workspace so long as the job gets done (and the less info we have about someone working in pink shorts and fuzzy bunny slippers, the better).

The hours are long, the pay sucks, and the management is pretty short on people skills… but you can join an intriguing group of people that are continually setting the aviation news business on its ear and be part of some VERY exciting upgrades and capabilities that are on the fast track for introduction in the coming weeks. We WILL hire for at least one position ASAP and another fairly soon thereafter. Respond with writing samples, background and CV to Help Wanted!

We’re also looking for the following… an experienced web/print-conversant graphic artist to help us with a number of small projects ranging from print ads and marketing documents, to book layout and cover designs. Experience with animated GIFs and Flash formats are particularly valuable. Work will be offered on a contract/fee basis and requires no on-site work (which, of course, means you have to have all the requisite computer assets at your disposal). To the right person, this is an on-going gig as we have a LOT of projects in the offing and there is enough to provide a competent artist a fair bit of part-time income.

Note: ANN will be reviewing resumes and CVs the first week of December... so be sure to get yours in ASAP, so that it gets full consideration!
