Engine Cowling Comes Loose On Frontier Airlines A320

Plane Returned To McCarran Airport In Las Vegas And Landed Safely

A portion of the engine cowling on a Frontier Airlines A320 airplane came loose shortly after takeoff from McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas on November 30th, prompting the crew to declare an emergency and return to the airport.

Fox News reports that, according to an airline spokesperson, a section of the engine cover, called a cowling, came loose and separated from the aircraft.”

Passengers say that people were "jumping up screaming, slamming on the roof" and yelling "Stop!"

The plane, which was headed to Tampa, FL with 166 people on board, landed safely back at McCarran.

“Safety is our top priority at Frontier Airlines and we would like to acknowledge the professionalism of our pilots and flight attendants,” the spokesperson said.

The passengers were rebooked on other flights and given a $500 travel voucher, according to the report.
