Details are sketchy so far. The accident reportedly happened just before 1000 Monday morning in the Bolivar province of Venezuela. Air traffic controllers said the captain of the aircraft reported problems controlling the aircraft just after takeoff, according to Bloomberg news.

The aircraft is owned by the Venezuelan state-owned airline Conviasa. It was reportedly enroute to Margarita Island when it went down about 6 nautical miles from Manuel Carlos Piar International Airport just outside the gates of the country's largest steel mill.
