Barnstorming: We Could Use A Little Help From Our Friends

We're On The Prowl For The Best And Most Interesting News In All Of Aviation... You Can Help!

Greetings from Florida…

Where restrictions are slowly but surely starting to ease and a hint of normalcy is returning. Kinda.

However, I realize that for many of you, you'll be sheltering in place for a good long time, and the folks that I talk to (that seem to know what's really happening out there) insist that normalcy is still a ways off.

Here at Aero-News HQ, not a lot changed from the standpoint of how we work, because we've been an all electronic organization since Day One. Each of us work in our home offices, and contribute to ANN via our content management system, while working with each other through a number of messaging and conferencing apps.

So… We were kinda ready for this -- Okay, about as much as anybody could have been ready for this.

Aero-News continues to chug along, and we're pleased to say that while we can't say that everything is great, it's not all that bad.

We've done what we have to do to conserve resources for the future, because we simply have no expectation of when or where aviation will begin to grow again. What was particularly frustrating about the situation we find ourselves in, though, is that just before all this insanity hit, Aero-News was on the cusp of having what appeared to be one of the best years ever.

Now, of course, all that is in the rearview mirror and we're looking to do what we have to do to survive through to some kind of recovery.

In the midst of all this, with the cancellations of AEA, Sun 'n Fun, and now Oshkosh having been confirmed and a lot of other events cast by the wayside including dozens of airshows and other special events, ANN is looking to being particularly inventive as regards to our future and recover as best we can.

You'll hear more about this in the coming weeks but we've been beating our heads against the wall figuring out how to make sure that we continue to be the most innovative aviation news and information service extant, and have a pretty clear plan about what the next generation of Aero-News will look like, once the world around us recovers.

We can't wait to get to that point, because what we have planned is pretty provocative... and you know that we know how to do 'provocative.'

In the meantime, we have a request.

In the past, one of the things that made Aero-News particularly vital was your cooperation and participation… Especially in terms of the news-tips and stories suggested to us by those of you out in the Aero-Verse. With the diminishment in aviation activity, gathering together a proper assortment of viable and valuable news is getting tougher by the day.

It's not that there is not enough news out there, it's that we work very hard to strike a balance that covers as much of aviation as we can, good and bad, but with a particular bent toward those things that are useful, insightful, or inspiring.

So… All of you, you're out there on the front lines.

We'd really like to hear what interests you and what you think we needs to be reporting on. One of the great benefits of working our 'News-Spy' program, was not that we just got a bunch of great news to work with, but that we found out (through you, directly) what was valuable to you. That allows us to build awareness of your interests and further allows us to strike a proper balance in regards to what we report on, and how we report on it.

So please… Take a moment and clue us in if you hear of something interesting, inspiring, informative, innovative, or otherwise reportable. Aero-News has served you for 23 years, compiling an unparalleled record of almost half a million stories in the process, and working our butts off to maintain our lead is the very first and most innovative aviation news service in the business. And, doing something is become increasingly more difficult.

It's not that we have to out-innovate the competition, it's that we have to out-innovate ourselves. And that can be a heckuva job.

Nobody's more important to that process then you. We'd really appreciate your reaching out to us, and sending any news that comes your way to us via our 'News-Spy' address at news-spy@Aero–news.net.

And just to sweeten the pot… Were going to be instituting a new program to entice you to think of us first when you hear something cool and reportable.

We'll be keeping an eye on news-spy submissions each month, and will (once-a-month) select the best 10 or 12 news-tips. Then, we'll randomly select one of those submissions to send the winner a gift.

For the first time around, I'm going to throw in a copy of my book, "Air Of Injustice", with an autograph, for the best News-Spy submission.

After that; we'll reach out to some of our friends in the Aero-Verse to contribute other monthly gifts, and see what we can do to make sure that we've got interesting prizes to award each month. Hopefully; not only will you feel good about how you help keep the aviation world informed, but you'll also have the potential to win something cool, as well.

Once again, send your news tips and story ideas to news-spy@Aero–news.net and we'll do the rest…

Again, there's a lot going on here.

We really were on the cusp of some pretty great things… And we're still working on them and getting ready to deploy them when circumstances warrant, but in the meantime we're doing the same thing you all are… Trying to stay healthy, conserving our resources to get through whatever hard times may still be coming, and doing our best to preserve and protect the best of aviation, so that the aviation world has a swift and aggressive recovery in the coming days.

Many thanks…
