A New Social Service For Pilots

Never Fly Alone Again

By Dave Juwel

A new company named, "YALLDO," has started a web & mobile app for inviting people to fly. It is hoped that this web site will cause people that have stopped flying to be reinvigorated, and that people who haven't yet gotten the bug to fly will do so in this program.

Basically, you plan a flight, put the flight plan up on your personal site, and then send a message to everyone you know inviting them along. The inventor of this system has invited over 1,000 people to fly with him. 100 people have accepted the invitation, and several of them have already started getting their pilots license. Many of the others may accept the invitation in the future.

You can make your flight public, or just for your buddies, or completely private. Flights can be tracked and shared with GPS traces, with in-flight photos taken, thus allowing participants to have a great memory of the flight.

There are Club pages to keep the group history including flights, trips, photos, and GPS traces. Every member can link their flights and trips so the rest of the club can see it.

You can also record every airport on its own page. On those pages you can document any information you want about the airport for future use. There are over 40,000 airport sites in their data base.

Your site is tailored just for you. You can store your friends' flights, information about airports, information about the clubs, local events and more.

Since starting the site, the designer, Paul Whitaker, has flown over 200 hrs. without an empty seat. It’s a great way to meet and make new friends, because everyone likes a pilot; they're part of the magnetism of aviation. You can meet people at parties, at work, at public activities, and through spontaneous conversations.
