The first reported incident was a the Dulles Jet Center near IAD.  The Fairfax County Fire-Rescue cave-in team was called extract five people from a partially-collapsed hanger.  After the people were evacuated, the remainder of the hangar succumbed to the snow.  Several private jets were in the hangar at the time.

The roof of a 24,000-square-foot hangar at HEF that collapsed later in the day was owned by Dulles Aviation, Inc,.  No aircraft or people were reported in the building at the time.  Fire officials reported to InsideNOVA of VA that the cave-in did cause a significant gas leak and has been condemned.

The hangars are among several buildings in the Northeast that have suffered structural failures during the blizzard.
