NBAA 2011 was an interesting year for the world's largest
gathering of all things BizAv... it also signaled a far more
aggressive shift in what and how the BizAv world decided to explain
itself.
Starting with HBC's Bill Boisture, on the day before the
official opening of the event, the "Plane-Speaking" commended and
never stopped as one flyer after another decried the nonsense the
aviation world had been forced to deal with... at the hands of a
public, media and government that fails to understand or appreciate
the immense contributions this industry makes, day after day,
flight after flight.
West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin (D) took the stage at the 2011
NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention, stating in no uncertain terms
that, "Every state benefits from general aviation." Manchin
addressed several hundred attendees at the event's Opening General
Session and noted that Business aviation, "... provides 1.2 million
manufacturing and service jobs."
U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) was sworn into the United
States Senate on November 15, 2010 to fill the seat left vacant by
the late Senator Robert C. Byrd adfter poreviously serving as WV's
Governor. Manchin is an unusual poltician... He began his tenure as
West Virginia’s 34th governor in January 2005, approving
millions of dollars in tax relief for West Virginia’s
citizens and businesses, fixing the state’s workers’
compensation system, and dramatically decreased the state’s
debt. During his term as Governor, he reportedly worked closely
with Republicans and Democrats to cut taxes, reduce regulations,
attract record investments, create new jobs and expand vital social
services for seniors and the poor, all while leaving the state with
budget surpluses every year.
