FAA Opens Additional Comment Period On EIS For Proposed Projects At KCLT

Comments Can Be Submitted Through July 9

The FAA has opened an additional 45-day public comment period on the Environmental Impact Statement for proposed projects at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The comment period closes on July 9, 2018.

The email address that the agency previously provided for public comments was incorrect. Residents who submitted comments to the previous, incorrect address should resend their comments to the correct email address. The FAA also will accept new comments during the additional comment period.

The FAA anticipates that the additional comment period will not affect the EIS schedule. The FAA expects to publish a Draft EIS and hold public hearings and an additional public comment period in late 2019. The agency plans to issue a Final EIS and Record of Decision in mid-2020.

The EIS will evaluate potential environmental impacts that may result from the Airport’s proposed projects, which include a 12,000-foot-long fourth parallel runway, associated taxiways, and terminal and ramp expansion. The project would require the decommissioning of Runway 5/23 and relocation of West Boulevard.
