NBAA Announces Recipients Of 2015 International Operators Scholarships

Four To Receive Awards At March Conference

The NBAA has announced the selection of four recipients of its 2015 International Operators Scholarships.

The 2015 recipients are:

Jonathan Gonzales: Gonzales is a client services executive for Priester Aviation. He holds a commercial pilot’s license and an instrument rating. Gonzales plans to use the award to offset the cost of attaining his MBA with concentrations in international business and project management. He will receive $8,000 toward his education.

Kathryn Heckman: Heckman is a flight attendant with Honeywell in Phoenix, AZ. In the past year, Heckman has been involved with the Corporate Angel Network, which helps match cancer patients with business aviation flights so the patients can travel to receive care at distant treatment centers. She plans to use the award to attend recurrent training courses, as well as courses to prepare for the Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) credential. She will receive $6,000.

Chase Peters: Peters is a freshman attending Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, MN, where he is studying aviation technology. He holds a private pilot’s license and an instrument rating. Peters will use the award to help complete his multi-engine and certified flight instructor ratings. He will receive $2,050.

Cade Schalla: Schalla is a card operation analyst with Baseops International, a subsidiary of World Fuel Services. Schalla plans to use the award to pursue his master's degree in logistics and supply chain management. He will receive $2,000.

The International Operators Committee (IOC) Scholarships are valued at a total of $20,000, and are designated for use by the recipients for professional development toward careers in business aviation with related international operations. The scholarships are sponsored by:

  • United Aviation Services International Trip Support
  • UVair
  • JetEx
  • IFR

Scholarship recipients will be honored at NBAA’s 2015 International Operators Conference (IOC2015), which takes place from March 23 to 26 in San Antonio, TX. At the conference, representatives of the scholarship sponsors and the NBAA International Operators Committee will be present to recognize this year's recipients.
