Boeing Reaches Agreement With LOT Polish Airline

Carrier Sought Compensation For Dreamliner Downtime

Poland's flagship carrier LOT has come to terms with Boeing for compensation following the grounding of the Dreamliner fleet for technical issues. The actual amount of compensation was not disclosed.

The airline had sought compensation of $32.9 million for losses it sustained while the Dreamliner fleet was grounded. The carrier was the first European airline to take delivery of the new airplane.

The French news service AFP reports that the deal was finalized Monday.

LOT received a $137.75 million emergency loan from the Polish government last year. LOT chief Sebastian Mikosz said that the airline would end 2013 showing a loss of about $6.5 million, far less than had been originally anticipated.

Mikosz told reporters that while he would not say the exact amount of the settlement with Boeing, it is "satisfying for our company and covers all the losses we identified."
