U.S. House of Representatives Passed the Small Aircraft Revitalization Act of 2013, clearing the way for President Barack Obama to sign the landmark overhaul of Part 23 certification guidelines into law. NTSB Chair Deborah A.P. Hersman has written a letter to the U.S. Department of Transportation saying its NPRM for an Airworthiness Directive covering thousands of ECi cylinder assemblies goes well beyond the Board's recommendations for inspecting and replacing the cylinders. Sixty-seven percent of members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers voted last Wednesday to reject the Boeing Company’s offer of an eight-year contract extension that would have expired in 2024.
