Upgraded: Betty Amos Righetti

Elected President, CEO, Wings Over Miami Museum

Wings Over Miami Museum, Inc. is pleased to announce that, effective January 1, 2004, Betty Amos Righetti of Miami Florida was elected to the position of President and Chairman of the Board for the Wings Over Miami, Museum. Ms. Righetti replaces Walter H. Orth, Jr., a co-founder of the museum, who will remain as Vice President-Operations for the Museum.

In addition, Frances Rohror Sargent, a WWII Women’s Army Service Pilot (WASP), a local flight instructor and aviation enthusiast; Timothy A. Battle, a local insurance executive and pilot; and William Walker, a local banker and pilot, were elected to the Board of Directors. Ms Righetti is President and owner of The Abkey Companies, holding Fuddruckers Franchises in Florida and Tennessee. Betty is also on the Board of Trustees of the University of Miami, a members of the Orange Bowl Committee, former President of the Humane Society of Greater Miami and is active in many other charitable and civic organizations in the Greater Miami area. Additionally, she is a member of the Board of Directors of Ivax Corporation. She is the widow of Dr. Thomas Righetti, a co-founder of the Museum, an aviation enthusiast, Warbird Pilot and collector and the Museum’s first President.

The Wings Over Miami Museum displays and flies military and classic aircraft to share the history of flight by providing examples of operating historic aircraft.  The museum exists as a tribute to those veterans and aviators who pioneered civilian and military aviation, and is for the enjoyment and education of the public.
