System In Operation In Europe Will Be Tested In Various Locations Around The U.S.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded a contract to Optosecurity Corporation under the Transportation Security Innovative Concepts Broad Agency Announcement.
Under this contract, Optosecurity will provide TSA with OptoScreener and eVelocity, advanced detection and screening management software and hardware to be installed and tested in various TSA evaluation locations. OptoScreener retrofits existing X-ray detection platforms to automatically detect: liquid explosives, other liquid threats, bottles, firearms, firearm parts, and other threats. The eVelocity solution allows airports to collect and integrate real-time operational data from multi-vendor X-ray machines. Analysis and effective alarm resolution is done using queuing services, image analysis of scanned items and alarm resolution with a common user interface locally or remotely for additional benefits provided by remote screening.
"Optosecurity applauds TSA for its efforts to implement effective risk-based security solutions and specifically Mr. Pistole's focus on 'delivering the most effective security in the most efficient way'" said Eric Bergeron, President and CEO of Optosecurity. "We are confident that TSA will find in its evaluations that Optosecurity solutions can significantly contribute to those goals." Optosecurity recently completed European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) Type C Performance Standard 2 certification for liquid explosive detection systems (LEDS).
Optosecurity solutions, currently installed in major airports in Europe, provide efficiency, effectiveness, security, and cost savings benefits to airports, regulating entities, and the traveling public at airport checkpoints.
