AD: Boeing Company Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2014-12-13

PRODUCT: All Boeing 737-100, -200, -200C, -300, -400, and -500 series airplanes.
ACTION: Final Rule, Request for comments.

SUMMARY: The FAA is superseding Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2014-03-06 for the products listed above.  AD 2014-03-06 required repetitive inspections for cracking of the aft support fitting for the main landing gear (MLG) beam, and the rear spar upper chord and rear spar web in the area of rear spar station (RSS) 224.14; and repair if necessary.

This AD clarifies two paragraph references. This AD was prompted by a determination that two paragraph references were in error. The FAA is issuing this AD to detect and correct cracking of the aft support fitting for the main landing gear (MLG) beam, and the rear spar upper chord and rear spar web in the area of rear spar station (RSS) 224.14, which could grow and result in a fuel leak and possible fire.

DATES: This AD is effective July 25, 2014. Comments must be received by August 25, 2014.
