502 United Pilots Accept Voluntary Separation Program

P-VSL Pilots Will Be Paid 50 Hours Per Month Until They Reach Age 65

Recently, all 502 United Airlines pilots who bid for Pilot Voluntary Separation Leaves (P-VSL), received awards.

In accordance with Letter of Agreement 20-03, P-VSL pilots will be paid 50 hours per month until they reach age 65. They will also receive full contributions to their retirement accounts, active medical and pass travel, and other benefits in exchange for beginning separation leaves prior to their retirement date.

“We are pleased that every pilot who requested early separation received an award under the advantageous terms we bargained,” said MEC Chairman Captain Todd Insler.

“On behalf of all United pilots, I would like to thank our ALPA brothers and sisters who have volunteered to finish their careers during this difficult time. We wish them a happy early start to their retirement. ALPA will continue to focus on protecting our contract and the careers of all United pilots, including the push for an extension of the CARES Act.”

Founded in 1931, ALPA is the largest airline pilot union in the world and represents over 63,000 pilots at 34 U.S. and Canadian airlines, including the 13,000 pilots at United Airlines.
