More Details Emerge From Earnhardt Citation Accident

4500 Foot Runway Shouldn't Have Been A Challenge For Citation Latitude N8JR

The first 24 hours post-accident in the Dale Earnhardt Jr accident is revealing a lot of initial info that is pointing to a number of possibilities early in the investigation. An early look at the FAA Accident summary simply describes the accident as "AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED HARD LANDING, BOUNCED, DEPARTED RUNWAY AND CAUGHT FIRE." The Cessna Citation Latitude 680A went off runway 24 after landing at Elizabethton, TN, Municipal Airport, an uncontrolled field, last Thursday.

Bell 407GXi Earns IFR Certification

Certification Advances Bell's Single-Engine Aircraft To Support US Navy Trainer Replacement

Bell has announced that the FAA has issued an IFR STC for the Bell 407GXi. The certification is a requirement for the Navy Advanced Helicopter Training System competition, enabling the Bell 407GXi to replace the Bell TH-57 Sea Ranger as the US Navy's training helicopter. Bell's replacement bid offers a unique combination of capability, ease of transition, and low sustainment costs, giving the best value to the Navy. Should the Bell 407GXi be selected for the US Navy Advanced Helicopter Trainer program, the company plans to conduct final assembly of the aircraft in Ozark, Alabama.

GAMA has published a mid-year industry update with the release of preliminary second quarter 2019 aircraft shipment and billings data. Piston and business jet deliveries increased through the first six months of 2019 compared to the same time period in 2018, while turboprop airplane and rotorcraft shipments were lower. The piston market continued to lead the increase in deliveries at 567 units, up 15.2% from the same period in 2018. Business jet shipments increased by 12.5% in the first six months of 2019 to 316 airplanes delivered.
