Airborne 03.16.20: AEA Postpones, Virus v Tri-Motor, DARPA Challenge

Also: ONE Aviation Comeback, F-35 Demo Pilot, Coronavirus Strikes AA Pilot, A-29 Support

Yeah.... we kinda figured this one was coming... The latest aviation trade show to fall to the Coronavirus is the AEA Convention, which had been scheduled later this month in Nashville, TN.

"The Aircraft Electronics Association has postponed its 63rd annual AEA International Convention & Trade Show that was scheduled for March 24-27 in Nashville, Tennessee," confirmed the association. The national tour for the Experimental Aircraft Association’s 1929 Ford Tri-Motor aircraft will pause for one month in consideration of the current coronavirus/COVID-19 situation and the health of flight crew and passengers. A tentative date for resumption of the tour is April 16 in Hickory, North Carolina, although the situation will be continually monitored for any changes. The month-long suspension of the Tri-Motor tour will cancel planned stops in Gainesville, Florida (March 19-22); Apalachicola, Florida (March 26-29); and Milledgeville, Georgia (April 2-5). All pre-booked flight reservations are being fully refunded. Less than two years from its start, DARPA’s effort to stress the approaches and processes associated with space launch ended March 2 with the lone Launch Challenge participant – Astra – scrubbing its launch with less than a minute left in the countdown before liftoff. Astra faced technical and weather-related issues during the roughly two-week window of the Challenge campaign, which ran February 17-March 2 in Kodiak, Alaska. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
