Airborne Affordable Flyers 11.02.23: Zenith Workshop, Van's Update, Rotor X Woes

Also: DeLand Showcase, Rich Stowell Blog, EAA On Whitaker Confirmation, EAA Youth Program

Zenith Aircraft is returning to central Florida on 01 and 02 December 2023 for purpose of hosting its hands-on kit aircraft building workshop... to be held on the SUN ’n FUN Expo campus, and followed immediately by an informal regional Zenith fly-in gathering.

The workshop will get underway on the morning of Friday, 01 December, inside the Buehler Aerospace Restoration and Training Center. Van’s Aircraft is facing serious cash-flow issues resultant of a confluence of unfavorable events and circumstances. Van’s will take time, through mid-November 2023, to evaluate means by which to most comprehensively and efficiently satisfy builder concerns regarding laser-cut parts. Also, the company will review the costs of its parts and kits. ANN has confirmed that our friend Mikael Via, who oversaw a similar process at Glasair several years back, has been named Interim CEO. The Rotor X situation remains questionable. After a late September Chapter 11 Bankruptcy filing, the company’s petition has been refused because Company Owner Don Shaw has failed to provide the proper records to the Trustee. Bankruptcy Judge Paul Sala dismissed the case due to “The debtor(s) having failed to file a list of creditors in the proper format as required by Local Bankruptcy Rule 1007-1.” All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
