FlightSafety International Celebrates 60th Anniversary

Incorporated In 1951 For Advanced Pilot Training

FlightSafety International is pleased to announce that March 29 marked the 60th anniversary of its founding. “Today we commemorate and celebrate FlightSafety’s 60th anniversary. All of us are most grateful to Al Ueltschi for founding this outstanding company, his vision and leadership. We thank him sincerely,” said Bruce Whitman, President & CEO.

Business aviation was just beginning when FlightSafety was incorporated in the State of New York on March 29, 1951. At that time, most business aviation pilots flew military aircraft converted to civilian use and, unlike commercial pilots, weren’t required to undergo formal training. FlightSafety now serves as a factory authorized service provider for the vast majority of business and regional aircraft manufacturers and provides a wide variety of training programs and equipment to military and government agencies worldwide.

FlightSafety’s highly qualified and experienced instructors provide more than a million hours of comprehensive professional training for pilots, aircraft maintenance technicians, flight attendants, dispatchers and other aviation professionals from 154 countries each year.

The company designs and manufactures advanced technology flight simulators, visual systems and displays. FlightSafety has delivered close to 800 simulators and other advanced training devices and over 700 visual systems since 1978. This includes the development of simulators for approximately 60 different aircraft types in the past five years alone. The simulators and visual systems are part of an integrated training system used throughout the company’s network of 42 Learning Centers and training facilities and by many other leading commercial, government and military organizations worldwide.

“Al believed that the best safety device in any aircraft is a well-trained crew when he founded the company. Six decades later, we remain committed to this principle and to enhancing aviation safety around the world. Training is more than our business. It’s our mission. We sincerely appreciate each of the more than 75,000 people who train with us each year. Our Customers have and will always be at the center of all we do.” added Bruce Whitman.
