On The Forefront Of FANS Solutions With Authorized Dealer Network
Together with its Authorized Dealer Network, Universal Avionics announces that Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) for Future Air Navigation System (FANS ) installations on 20 platforms have been issued or are currently in work, with more to come.
“The installation of this advanced technology provides our worldwide operators the most efficient routing in
FANS preferred airspace,” said Robert Clare, Universal Avionics’ Director of Sales. “Our solutions continue to
address growing needs for innovative avionics throughout the aerospace industry.” Combined with Universal Avionics’ SBAS-Flight Management System (FMS) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR), the UniLink UL-800/801 Communications Management Unit (CMU) provides standard capabilities of an airborne data link system, plus the opportunity to gain FANS 1/A+ operational approval.
Aircraft equipped and operationally approved for FANS data link gain access to the most desirable tracks when traveling across the Atlantic, which saves time and fuel. This will become even more apparent when all of the organized track system will require FANS operations between FL350-FL390 (inclusive) this February 2015. The installation of this package also includes Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Contract (ADS-C) functionality. In addition, FANS installations provide many non-mandated benefits, including significantly improved communications as a result of no HF voice radios or language barriers, resulting in increased safety and flight crew efficiency.
