ISU Plans 25th Anniversary Space Studies Program At Florida Tech, KSC

Program Set For June 4 To August 3

The International Space University will open its 25th Space Studies Program (ISU/SSP12) at Florida Institute of Technology and Kennedy Space Center June 4-Aug. 3. The 2012 program will offer to its participants, who are post-graduate university students and professionals, an education like no other. This year, a record number of 143 will attend from 30 countries.

Experts, scholars and space professionals from around the world will learn about all aspects of space programs and enterprises. Participants will gain exposure to space physical sciences, space systems engineering, policy and law, business and management, space and society, satellite applications, space life sciences and human spaceflight. "Florida Tech has maintained close ties to NASA and KSC since the university's founding by rocket scientists in 1958. The first ISU space studies program was held at MIT in 1987; we are proud to have it here on the Space Coast in 2012," said University Professor Guy A. Boy, chair, Florida Tech organizing committee for SSP '12. Florida Tech offers several related degree options through its physics program and astronomy program.

Students will be joined by the public for the TEDx TED Talks on July 6, from 0900 to noon at Florida Tech. Details on this and other events are available online.

TEDx speakers and leaders from the space community will address how ideas in technology, entertainment and design influence inspire their work in space. The audience will comprise leaders from the space industry, participants of the ISU-SSP12 session, personnel from NASA, local space industry companies and the general public.
