RANS S-7LS Receives SLSA Certification

First Delivery to Montana

The first RANS SLSA has been flying for several weeks now. The S-7LS is the sport plane version of the Courier, a kit plane that began production in 1985, and received Primary Type Certification in September of 2001. Deliveries from the plant, located in Kansas, have begun.

At a price of $75,000 the plane comes well equipped with the Rotax 912S 100 HP engine, and choice of King or Garmin Avionics.

Randy Schlitter, president of the RANS Aircraft commented, "It is a charmer, a well loved plane with outstanding STOL performance, 91 to 100 kts cruise with about 500 pounds payload. It is a practical plane, can handle lots of surface and cross wind, easy to enter and exit, super forgiving slow flight, and light and fun handling. In everyway this plane retains the nostalgic fun flying of the past with the advantage of advances in aerodynamics, engines, materials, and manufacturing process."

Delivery of the S-7LS has begun with the first being received by Neil Salmi who is also the first official US dealer for the S-7LS, located in Townsend, Montana. Lead times for the fly away S-7LS are running about 5 to 6 months. That lead time is expected to shorten as production increases over the next few months.

The S-7LS Courier is built in Hays, Kansas. RANS has been established in the aircraft business since 1983 and has product worldwide. RANS notes that the SLSA program adds to the many ways to purchase a Courier and allows the purchaser to kit-build nearly the exact same plane from either separate kits, the base kit, or quick build kits.
