Embraer and NAC Sign Firm Order for Embraer E195 Conversions

Up to 10 E190 Passenger Aircraft Reconfiguration Slots Sold Nordic Aviation Capital

Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC), a regional aircraft leasing specialist, have signed a contract for up to 10 conversion slots for the Embraer E190F and E195F, with deliveries expected to start in 2024.

Earlier this year, in May, NAC and Embraer reached an agreement to take up to 10 conversions of passenger E190/E195 aircraft to freighter specification planes, with the deal firmed up this month. The aircraft for conversion will come from NAC’s existing E190/E195 fleet.

Embraer's E-Jet lineup allows passenger aircraft to obtain a new lease on life and address heavy demand for additional cargo aircraft throughout the world with older legacy layouts that may not be as popular with the traveling public. The E-Jet Freighters boast 50% more volume capacity and 3 times the range of most large cargo turboprops, with up to 30% lower operating costs than narrowbodies.

Embraer holds that their own facilities in Brazil allow a top-class conversion, allowing operators of more than 1,700 E-Jets around the world to be reconfigured with a series of cargo tools and utilities. Among others, the highlights of the process add a main deck front cargo door, cargo handling system, floor reinforcement, Rigid Cargo Barrier, cargo smoke detection system, overhauled Air Management System changes, interior removal, and provisions for hazardous material transportation.
