Whole-aircraft emergency parachute manufacturer Ballistic
Recovery Systems, Inc. announced this week it had passed its Light
Aircraft Manufacturers Association (LAMA) audit for compliance with
the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards for
production of emergency whole aircraft parachute recovery
systems.
"Your management team is leading the way in its commitment to
safety and education for all those involved with your products,"
said LAMA President Tom Gunnarson in his announcement letter to BRS
senior management. "LAMA looks forward to a continued close
relationship with BRS as we forge ahead in developing a vital
industry for the future of aviation."
BRS Vice President of Engineering, Frank Hoffmann, called
passing the audit "a significant milestone for any firm dealing
with the Light Sport industry. It means we have the processes and
people in place to make quality aviation products in a consistent
manner."
"This audit showcases BRS’s abilities to meet the quality
needs of our customers," added BRS CEO Larry Williams. "I am very
proud of our entire team in achieving this significant
milestone.

successfully complete an independent ASTM standards compliance
audit.

aviation and recreational aircraft. Since 1981, BRS has delivered
more than 29,000 parachute systems to aircraft owners worldwide,
including over 3,500 systems on FAA-certificated aircraft such as
