Canadian Aviation Association Honors Tracy Medve

Canadian North's President First Woman To Become Honorary Life Member Of The Air Transport Association Of Canada

Tracy Medve, who has held the position of President of Canadian North for three years, was inducted as an Honorary Life Member with the Air Transport Association of Canada (ATAC). Ms. Medve is the first woman to ever receive this prestigious honor. Canadian North is a major provider of scheduled passenger and cargo as well as charter services from Edmonton and Ottawa to points throughout the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

Honorary Life Memberships have been awarded since 1976 to those who have contributed significantly to the improvement of the Association and the Canadian air transport industry. Individuals are nominated by members of ATAC and are then presented to the Board for a vote on their contribution to the industry. Recipients have included high-profile Canadian aviation giants such as Max Ward (President of former Wardair), and Rhys Eyton (Chairman & CEO of former Canadian Airlines).

"We are honoured and proud to have Tracy as an Honorary Life Member," affirms ATAC's President, John McKenna. "This award is warranted due to her hard work and commitment to the aviation industry as well as to this association."

Since 1985, Tracy has held various senior airline management positions at Norcanair, Time Air, Canadian Partner and Canadian Regional Airlines. Prior to joining Canadian North, Tracy was the co-founder of C.T. AeroProjects, a Calgary based consultancy focused on air transport resource management. Tracy is not only a member of the Air Transport Association of Canada Board, but also of the Northern Air Transport Association Board and the University of British Columbia, Okanagan External Advisory Board. She is also a past member of the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada.

"I'm very pleased to receive this honor," states Ms. Medve. "The aviation industry is a passion of mine, so being inducted as an Honorary Life Member of an important aviation industry association like ATAC holds special importance for me."

Other Canadian North employees participate in the Air Transport Association of Canada, including Laval St. Germain, the first Canadian to scale Mount Everest without oxygen.
