USAF Releases UFO Project Blueboook

Nearly 130,000 Pages Of Documents Posted On The Internet

The storied USAF Project Blue Book has been published online ... including nearly 130,000 pages of declassified UFO records amassed by the U.S. government.

The project, which was headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, OH, collected information on some 12,618 sightings in the sky from 1947-1969 ... of which 701 are still listed as "unidentified."

USA Today reports that while parts of Project Blue Book have been published online before, the current effort is the result of years of Freedom of Information Act requests on the part of John Greenewald, a self-described UFO enthusiast. He has been filing FOIA requests for almost 20 years in an effort to make the information public. As of January 12, the Blue Book files, as well as records from the earlier Project Sign and Project Grudge, have been posted to his online database The Black Vault (see FMI link below).

Still missing from the files, however, are records from the most famous incident that some believe is associated with a UFO. The National Archives says that it has been   "unable to locate any documentation among the Project Blue Book records which discuss the 1947 incident in Roswell, N.M." Roswell is mentioned other times in the documents, but not in connection with the alleged crash and recovery of an UFO and its occupants in 1947.
