LAMA Announces First Compliance Accreditations

Processes Pass Muster For ASTM Certification

The Light Aircraft Manufacturing Association (LAMA) announced Thursday the first four companies to win the highly coveted Light Sport Aircraft Compliance Awards. The organization LAMA chose to provide the auditing is ASTM International.

ASTM has played a leadership role in addressing standardization needs in the global marketplace. They are known for their "best in class" practices for standards development and delivery, ASTM is at the forefront in the use of innovative technology to help its members do standards development work.

"Congratulations to these companies who have taken the lead in demonstrating compliance to international industry stands, said Tom Gunnarson, President of LAMA. "This process helps assure that there are documents in the files and the process or controls in place that substantiate the audited sections of the ASTM standards for light sport aircraft.

The first company to pass the stringent compliance audit is Dallas, TX-based IndUS Aviation, the producer of the Thorpedo and Sky Skooter. The second organization was Jihlavan Airplanes, makers of the Kappa KP-5. Germany's Flight Design, which produces the high-wing CT was third, and AeroPro -- makers of the tube and fabric Eurofox -- is the fourth and final manufacturer.

The EAA has been a strong supporter of compliance audits. Executive Vice President Bob Warner was on hand for the ceremonial distribution of the LAMA decal that will be applied to aircraft, to denote their adherence to the regulations.
